Ihave recently begun building links with other Samsung blogs, forums and community sites across the Internet. This post provides a little background to me, my site and what I am interested in doing.
The idea is that anyone interested in forming a partnership can have a read through before deciding that they would like to link up with me.
By linking up I hope we will:
- Benefit from shared traffic
- Provide a useful resource for your readers, specifically if you don’t run a Wiki yourself
- Bring together a strong network of independent Sammy webmasters
Who am I?
I am an amateur webmaster who enjoys running one or two websites in my spare time. The primary driver is the fun of building the sites and the satisfaction of providing helpful information. None of the sites provide a massive income, but they do comfortably cover their costs.
This is traditional bedroom website production at work!
What Do I Do?
I am an IT professional specialising in information management. As may unfortunately be obvious I am not a professional website developer! However I did spend a couple of years working for one of the UK’s oldest and most successful .com companies so I am no stranger to the inner workings of a website!
What is SammyWiki?
SammyWiki is a community wiki for owners of Samsung products and any related technologies. The site grew up alongside its sister site SammyNetbook.com, the leading Samsung netbook community site which now regularly gains up to 250,000 monthly hits. Readers can learn about their products and contribute their own tips.
Currently the majority of pages and user contributions are netbook related, however a framework for other product areas is beginning to develop, my goal for the coming year is to ensure the site becomes as successful in mobile phones, media players, televisions and more!
Why do I want to Link up with Other Sites?
I firmly believe that websites are better when they work together. Sure, some of the sites I want to link to are in direct “competition” with SammyWiki but in my experience sites almost always seem more successful when they link together, share information and readers.
I believe in linking generously to sites that I think are top quality resources, sites that I would want to read and sites that I know my readers will want to know about too. This adds values to readers and ensures they are far more likely to return again and again.
I am hoping that blog and forum owners who run Tech/Samsung related community sites will want to connect with SammyWiki and encourage their users to add community lead hints and tips to the site.
Why Would You Want to Link Up?
I am hoping that owners of other Sammy sites will agree with the idea of creating interconnected community lead resources that exist for the benefit of all product owners.
However, idealistic goals aside, SammyWiki is already beginning to see 1000s of daily hits and as it grows stronger in various sectors it will hopefully become a positve source of traffic for the more specialised community sites that we link out to. Excluding search engines, SammyWiki is now the leading traffic referrer for SammyNetbook.com.
With several sites already agreeing to partner up with us I hope that the attraction of exchanging links becomes stronger and stronger – of course the earlier you get in the more we will be able to integrate our sites and the more we will both benefit!
I am interested in:
- Run a forum or blog? Why not promote us as your Wiki partner.
- Attracting article writers to the site, add your own guide or product and link back to your own blog or forum. We accept guest posts!
- Basic link exchanges (although I am always happy to add one way links to genuine content sites).
- Does your blog have an RSS feed? We can post headlines to our forum and send you traffic in return!
- Any other ideas? Just get in touch!
