If you have been wondering when mediwiki 1.16 is going to be released then wonder no more! The long awaited mediawiki 1.16 has been released and the stable download is available from the media wiki site.

MediaWiki is the software behind everyone’s fave encyclopaedia Wikipedia which is available for free use by anyone. In fact Wikipedia and others seem to have been using 1.16 for a long time now.
But this is the first official stable release.
I will be carrying out the upgrade shortly on my own wiki site, SammyWiki, and will report back how it goes. That site is still on the 1.14 strand so I am looking forward to implementing the new mediawiki release.
